Athletics

Yesterday the year 4-8’s did athletics for the whole day. Some people didn’t do it because they were injured or were helping, me and my friend Caitlyn helped with the shot put. Caitlyn was doing the measuring to see how much meters the kids got and I was getting the shot put ball, it was very tiring because I had to keep going back and forth to get the shot put. For the whole day I stayed at shot put because that’s what I got put on. It was a pretty cold and windy day, but sometimes I had to keep taking my jacket on and off. Our first group we had were the year 6 boys. Some of them threw quite far like 9 meters,  after we had a few rotations we got to go to break. It  was so tiring standing up and walking around a lot because I had to walk every 5 seconds to get the shot put but sometimes I didn’t stop walking because as soon as I gave the shot put to the kid that was next they did it like straight away. After break we had our morning tea and then the people participating in athletics had to go to their next rotation. I think the group we had after break was the year 5 boys and another group but I can’t remember what other group it was. The other group we had threw quite far as well. After every year group from 4-8 had gone on shot put it was the sprints finals and relays. I wished I had a different job because shot put was very boring and tiring.

  1. Kia Ora Lila,
So athletics sounds a bit boring and tiring. Did you get a sore back the next day from having to bend to grab the shot put? For a year 6, 9 metres is really far, I can only throw a 6.45 metre shot put with a 2 kg ball!
We had our school athletics day on a sunny but windy day, it was bit cold too. For athletics zones, it was freezing! Windy and miserable, I was surprised that it was still on. When is your athletics zones?
Did you take any photos of the athletics day? As to add a bit more colour to your post, you could put in some images/photos.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hi Lila,

I like your blog post about Athletics day. I like the amount of information you put into your blurb. Did the teachers take any photos? What were the sports that the other kids had to do?

    Kind Regards Trinity
