Adventure week

Last week my class and another class had an adventure week, somethings were out of school and some were in school.  Monday- I went to flip out for most of the day, me and my friends were in the same group. We got to flip out and then had to wait and get safety instructions and put our socks on. As soon as we had all that done we were allowed to go onto the trampolines. There was so many people that went straight to the foam pit, I didn't go into the foam pit straight I went to the trampolines. I bought my friends a ice block because they were really nice to me but then they had to pay me back $2. At one point I did 3 aerials ( no handed cartwheel) in a row and then I felt really dizzy. There is lots of tricks I can do on trampolines, I also did a front flip and landed.

Tuesday- I went to town, we had to walk to the bus stop, go onto a public bus and then get off at the bus exchange. We had to walk to the Mueseum  and then wait about 3 minutes before we could go in. We were going to the Museum because we had to try out these strength, height, weight machines. After the Museum we got to go to the Margret Mahy playground for about an hour, and had to get the public bus back. The whole time back  I was standing up in the bus so other people could sit down.

Wednesday- Everybody was at school this day. I was doing cooking and made cookies. It was really easy to make but when I added the milk in I added in to much and then my mixture was oily and was hard to make into cookies. We weren't allowed to make the cookies very thick otherwise they wouldn't cook properly or take too long when other people needed to use the oven. The cookies were okay but they weren't the best food I have cooked. There was only allowed to be 4 people at a time when making the cookie mixture.

Thursday- All the year 7 and 8's went to Jellie Park. It took around 20 minutes to get to Jellie Park but we had to wait at school for about 7 minutes because the bus was late. When we got there we had to line up in 2 lines, people that weren't going on the hydro slide and people that weren't. I was going on the hydro slide. There was a lady that was giving us safety instructions while the teachers were putting the hydro slide wrist bands on us. The first thing me and my friends went on was the hydro slides. There was 2 different types of them, there was one you could race down but I didn't go on that one and there was one where its like curvy. At one point I was going down the hydro slide and near the end I slipped onto my shoulder and hurt my shoulder and then another time me and my friends were going down and then we had just fallen into the pool. I held my nose so I didn't get water up it but I let go at the wrong time, and then did a double back flip on accident. It was kind of scary not knowing that I would do that. I got out of the pools and got dressed because it was getting cold and a bit boring. I went to sleep a few minutes after I got out and I got sunburned because I didn't put on enough sunscreen. I was out of the pools for like 2 hours which was the rest of the time. Then we went back to school and then went home.

Friday- This day was probably the most boring day of the week. It was Rumbustification day, there was no bouncy castles or anything fun except for maybe 3 things 1. Long boarding 2. Riding the old fashion bikes and the photo booth. Everything else was very boring and I was walking round with my friends being weird, crazy and bored. It was on until 2:00 and to be honest I was glad that the day was nearly over.

Grammar- Literacy

Last week and this week for literacy we have been doing a grammar worksheet. We have to fill in the missing noun, adjective, verbs, prefix's, Suffixes and more. It takes a while to complete but we got a information sheet so we know what everything is. I'm getting way better than I used to be. There is 20 things we have to fill in and some of them require more than 1 answer.

Inquiry this term

For inquiry me, Rylee and Lauryn have been working on a imovie and a slideshow about what we are doing. We are going a How to guide- office duty for the year 6's that are going to become year 7's. We have made lots of progress in the imovie , and even getting hurt during filming. We took lots of takes with the filming but we got it in the end. The slideshow didn't take as long because we didn't lots of slides, we did a slide about the phone calls, the sick bay and the lost property just so the year 6's do the job properly.

Science Experiment 1

Maths

For maths this term we have been learning about 'mean' which means if you have like 5 + 4 + 5 you add them together and get the total. Then you take the total and since there is 3 numbers you would divide the total by 3. We have also been doing maths tests and putting the information into graphs. And another thing we have been doing is percentage, the percentages we are doing are 20%, 10%, and 50%.

Tech term 3

For tech this term we are only doing one session. My group is doing plastics we have made: a dice, I haven't finished the dice yet but we have also made a twirly thing that can go outside or inside. It is very cool, I also made the twirly thing in one session where it usually takes me like two sessions to get something made in.

Inquiry

For inquiry we have been researching careers.First of all we had to do a careers quiz with 78 questions.Then we had to narrow down our choices I got 100 choices.We had narrowed down our jobs  until we had 5 left then we chose which one we wanted to do.Then I had to do research about what I was doing and it took a while to do but I got it all done in the end.We made a presentation to show the year 6's and I made a slideshow.Then we actually showed the year 6's our work and then they left after about 20-30 minutes.We packed up and ended the day.

Rotations

Today we did rotations.The groups we do are learning new languages, Drama/acting and watching a movie and writing down words.

Our first group is a language group, I am learning Spanish and I am really looking forward to having conversations in this language.The things I need to work on are learning more Spanish and been able to know words without having to look at them.

For the drama/acting group we are doing this play with scripts.We also do word games and we go around the circle and come up with words for a one word story,sometimes the story doesn't make sense so we have to restart.

And for the movie group our last group we are watching 'The adventures of Tintin' the secret of the unicorn.We had to write the word that comes after 'your/you're' there was quite a lot of words.

My math work

Ideas for careers of what I want to be when I'm older

The careers I see myself doing in 20 years are a paramedic/nurse, a babysitter or working on a farm

The skills I think I have for a paramedic is helping injured people, a fast thinker and to work well with other people.

The skills I think I have for a babysitter is a lot of patience and  always have ideas

The skills I have to work on a farm are I'm really good with animals and I think I'd take really good care of them.

My learning

I really liked what we were doing this morning because we rotated around 3 different teachers.The first group was learning about connections with school and family in Te reo Maori.The second group was acting and drama ,We played some drama games and that was really fun and funny.The third group was watching a movie and had to spot the word that comes after my. 

My goal for milos is to share my slideshow with people and have it finished.I also want to complete the dance and that's nearly finished.

My goals for learning are to be really good at linking because it is a bit messy at the moment.

Oil Spills

This is about oil spills.

We have studied on oil spills,animals that have died in oil spills.

 What I found challenging was  getting information about oil spills it was  harder than I thought.

What went well was basically everything and I got good feedback.

What I needed to change was adding in links of where I got information from

I got amazing/good feedback.Some people said I needed to add links which I did in the end.

Technology Day

Today we went to technology. We go to Technology on Thursdays.What I do for this term is wood work and cooking.

What we made at Wood work is a little box but I didn't get to finish it. It was so fun. These are some of the tools we use:Scroll Saw, Hammer, tri Square, Drill, Countersink and way more.

The thing we made at cooking was muesli in a cup it was delicious.These are some of the things we use:Apron, Measuring cup, Spoon, Knife and more.

It was such a fun day.

A week later on MILOs

MILOs

For my milos I have been creating a dance with Sepela,Caitlyn,Shelby and Myself. We have been doing a slideshow mine is about Spain,Caitlyn’s is about Italy and Sepela’s is about Samoa.

It has been going really good so far but we just have a instrumental piece of the dance left and then we go over it and get someone to film us.

Our next step is to get that little piece of the song and get someone to record us and then we could post it to our blogs or something.It is going to be really fun.We need to show Shelby the dance and then we could go over it more and more.
