Mufti day/fundraising for the SPCA

Last week Charlotte and I organised a mufti day to fundraise for the SPCA. Today we had the mufti day and we raised $612.40, and we got 2 boxes full of pet food. Me and Charlotte had to go down and collect all the pet food and money from each class, the pet food container was already really full so we tried to find another box to put the food in but they didn't fit. So we had to take the first load to the office before we collected more food. After we collected the money and food we had to count all the money at some points I got confused, there was so much money so we had to get a calculator to help us add everything up. I am happy that we had a successful fundraise which is going to a good cause.

Learning Spanish

For one of my passion projects for William pike me and a few others are learning Spanish. We are learning how to have a conversation in Spanish, I am happy with how much I have learnt. I have really enjoyed learning a new language so far. The sight I am learning Spanish on is called duolingo, it has helped me with a lot of my Spanish. The next language I probably will learn would be French.

Maramataka

Maramataka is the lunar calendar  also known as the Maori lunar month. Which means the turning of the moon. A typical lunar cycle lasts for  29.53 days, on the 21st of June it was a pitch black night. The cycle starts again with the appearance of the next new moon. 

Maths

In maths my group is learning about probabilty. It can be hard but then after a few minutes of the teacher explaining what it is I start to understand it more. I feel like the maths group I am in is the right group for me, it's not to hard and it's not to easy. When learning about probabilty it means like using numbers, fractions, percentages, and I think there is a few more but I cant remember what they are.

Everyday before we start maths we have to do a quick 10 which is we have 10 questions that the teachers ask us and we have to write them down in our books, all the time I get 10/10 right so I think next time there is harder questions I will do them.

Tech

Today in tech I do mechatronics and sewing. I was going a bit crazy.

In mechatronics we were coding robots to go around a board,  The teacher Mrs B called these dots on the board craters and volcanoes. So that meant we had to program the robots to go around them. After a few tries Me and Caitlyn  finally got it around the board. Lets hope everything turns out well . Next week we are building with lego bricks, I hope it will be fun.

In sewing I had to use a light box which makes a light and you put a piece of paper on it and you trace it onto the bag. My design I am doing was pretty hard to trace and it kept not lining up with the paper so I had to keep fixing it but then it still wouldn't work. At this point I was thinking of giving up on tracing the design onto the bag but I didn't. When I thought I had finished I took the fabric away from the light box to see what it looked like but there was still things missing so I added them in after when I had done most of the design.

William pike

For my William pike Me and Charlotte are fundraising for the SPCA. We are thinking of having a mufti day depending on what the teachers say about it, we are also thinking of having a mufti day to give money to the SPCA to help their animals that are in need. I am also doing doing the beach clean up where me and a few others are going to go to the beach for about 1 hour and maybe 3-4 times a week and we clean the beach up.

Maths

What happens when you multiply a number by 1, 0 or 10

When you multiply a number by 1 it stays the same number so if I said 10 x 1 it would be 10.

When you multiply a number by 0 it is 0 because it doesn't matter what the number is it will always be 0.

And when you multiply a number by 10, it's just like skip counting and u just add a 0 on the end so 3 x 10 would be 30 because I just added a 0 on the end of 3.

Tech term 2

Yesterday for tech we got into new classes. The classes I am doing are sewing and mechatronics, mechatronics is robots. I am pretty happy because the teachers are nice, For sewing the teacher had 3 coffees and was being really silly so I was laughing really hard. For sewing we are making a reusable bag. For mechatronics we are looking at robots, racing them and maybe making them.

I am excited to be doing mechatronics and sewing.

Maths

Today we had to do 100 questions in 10 minutes. I challenged myself with division, I got 100/100 and my time was 6 minutes 45 seconds I am very happy with myself. I feel like I am way better than last term and I think I got better over the lock down. My goal is to do 100 question in under 5 minutes.

Reading

In literacy for our reading we have been learning about supporting ideas and the main ideas. We only get like 1 or 2 paragraphs to read. They are kind of easy but kind of hard.  Today we learnt about presidential pets/ interesting animals.
