Ways manners help the world go better

10 ways manners helps the world go better

1.  Your manners change you into a better person so use them.

2. When I clean up any mess I make, I've let people know that I don't expect them to do my cleaning for me.

3. Accept your own mistakes, take the blame for them and say sorry quickly and then it is done.

4. When I talk quietly I am not getting into others personal space with my voice.

5. When I speak kindly I make others feel happy and calm. Speaking kindly will also make others like me, you should only say kind things because some people can get offended with some things people say.

6. When I keep my hands to myself and don't shove, push, punch, touch other people, I respect their personal space.

7. When I compliment people and encourage them I help them feel good. If people compliment you should do the same back, it makes people feel happy.

8. Try and see the funny side of things when they go wrong, it helps everyone realise that often people do things without thinking or without understanding might happen.

9. Try and notice the nice things people do for you, it makes you feel happy and loved. Also when people do nice things for you appreciate it and even do something nice back so they feel loved and appreciated.

10. Being honest makes people trust you and like you, even if you tell one lie it will take a long time for people to trust you and want to be around you.

11. If you see something that's not yours return it to the person it belongs to or turn it in if it doesn’t have a name on it, and hopefully you can find the owner.

Tech

Yesterday for tech we had new classes. I am in cooking and digitech, I am happy to be in these classes.

This term for cooking we are focusing on cultural foods. Today we made a hangi, I was gonna think it would have been really gross but in fact it wasn't actually that bad. For our hangi we had cabbage, carrots, potato, kumara, pumpkin, chicken, and these stuffing things made of breadcrumbs, melted butter, mixed herbs and I think somethings else but I can't remember what. First of all we had to get our ingredients on a plate and we had to wash the vegetables, then we had to peel our potatoes, carrots and kumara. After that we had to take the skin off the pumpkin. Then we cut them up into quarters and put them on our plate, and we got a piece of tinfoil and we put our vegetables and chicken on the tinfoil and had to wrap them up a specific way, which the cooking teacher told us to do. We put our hangi on a baking tray and put them in the oven for 45 minutes so the chicken good cook properly because if you don't cook chicken properly then you can get food poising from it. After 45 minutes had past we got our hangi out from the oven and opened them, but we had to eat them in the cooking class because the hangi was too hot to take anywhere.

Our second class was digitech that was a pretty boring class because all you do is scratch. When we got in there the teacher told us what we have to do and things like that. We were allowed to work in buddies so I did, but we had to login to scratch separately. Mine and my buddies wifi stopped working so we had to go onto another computer. What we had to finish coding was a game the teacher had made already and we had to code the sprite to do like jump on platforms and get keys and things like that. It was kinda confusing but then I sort of got the hang of it. We only have 5 weeks left of doing digitech because of how the terms worked out. I think that digitech is really boring and if I had the choice to do that class again I wouldn't.

Isometric drawings - maths

Today in maths we did some isometric drawings. This is one of my drawings I did. I started with basic cubes and then I found it really easy so I did some more. We had to make a 2d drawing of our model.

Tangram

Today in maths we had the choice of what we did, but it had to do something with geometry. I did this tangram puzzle, it was pretty hard because we had to get the shapes into the right fit and we had to line them up with the lines. We had to rotate the shapes around so they would fit. This photo I added was the first one I tried, it was kind of easy but it wasn't at the same time.

Tech

Yesterday at tech it was the last day for sewing and cooking. Next week I will still be doing cooking and something else but my group didn't get told what class we will be doing after cooking.

At sewing we had to make a backpack from scratch. The teacher got like the fabrics and decorating stuff out, we got to do a sketch of what we wanted it to look like. The things it had to have was space to fit a water bottle in it could be the back pocket or it could have a pocket specifically for the water bottle. It also had to open and close, and it had to have straps because it was a backpack and had to have straps. People got into groups of 2-3, I was in a group with 2 other people and I'm glad they knew how to sew because I cannot sew what- so- ever. It was pretty stressful because the prize we got if we won was a block of chocolate and I really wanted to win, The thing that was most stressful would have been making the water bottle pocket and putting the straps on the back of the bag. A teacher came in and judged the bags my group came 2nd. At the end the sewing teacher gave out treats you could choose from chips or a little chocolate bar, so I chose the chocolate bar.

In cooking we made cookies. First of all we had to make the cookie dough, it was kind of easy to make,  I forgot what things we used to make it. After we had make the cookie dough we got to choose what things we wanted to put in. The things we got to choose from were m&ms, chocolate chips, raisins and I think there were some other things but I couldn't remember what they were. I put m&ms in mine I was going to put chocolate chips in as well but I am impatient so I couldn't be bothered waiting. When it was time to clean up, I was on cleaning the table and extra duty. When I have extra duty I ask the cooking teacher if she needs anything done. She said she needed her dishes done, but it was so hot in the cooking class that I had to open the windows and  stand outside the door. Towards the end I got told off because I didn't do the dishes, I didn't do them because it was way too hot in that class and I was outside for a bit. I ended up doing them, there wasn't much dishes which was good. But the bad thing was I had to wash, dry and put the dishes away. we baked the cookies for 10-15 minutes and the put them on a cooling tray to cool down. It got to the end and then we put the cookies in a bag and then went outside to line up for the bus.

Sailing

Yesterday the year 8's in Tangaroa and year 7+8's from Ata Hapara went sailing. I didn't want to go sailing but I got forced to go. It took about 20-25 minutes to get to lake rua, When we got there it was about a 5 minute walk to get to where we had to go. When we got there we had to get told the rules and then we had food, I was pretty tired that day. After we had morning tea we had to learn how to rig the boat. It was kind of easy but then it wasn't easy at the same time. We had to be in a group of 3 but I had to be in a group of 2 because there wasn't enough people. Rigging the boat would have been one of the easiest things, the hardest thing/s was learning how to get over to the other side and duck under the sail and then back to the other side. After a while we had lunch and then some people wanted to go back to school so I went back because I wasn't  going to do anything else.
